General Information

We are a youth Football and Cheer organization located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We are a part of and governed by the Downriver Junior Football League which is made up of 18 teams located throughout Washtenaw and Wayne Counties.

Eligible athletes for the 2019 season must be between the ages of 7 and 13 with birth dates that fall between 09/02/05 and 09/01/12.

2018 Varsity Team


As participants in the Downriver Junior Football League, we do play competitively. Our coaches goal is to give each player the most playing time possible and make sure football players play at least their minimum number of plays prescribed by the league. Playing time will be granted to those athletes who exhibit outstanding effort, show continued perseverance and have lots of heart.


DJFL weight limitations for each Football Level

Freshman - Allowed up to 120 lbs

JV - Allowed up to 140 lbs

Varsity - Allowed up to 165 lbs

2018 Maize Cheer Squad


As participants in the Downriver Junior Football League. Cheer athletes participate in a fun and supportive environment.

There are no cuts or try-outs and all of our cheerleaders will participate in every game. At the end of the season each team will get the opportunity to attend the DJFL Cheer Competition.

Children younger than 7 may eligible to participate in game day cheer activities as a Maize team Mascot. Contact us for info.


Practice Information

Off Season Training events may begin in mid/late July depending on coaching availability

Practices start in August

Practices, before the school year starts, will be held Monday - Friday from 6-8:30 pm

May have at least 1 Saturday practice in August

Practices, once the school year resumes, will be held Tuesday-Friday from 6-8:00 pm and is adjusted to an earlier end time as we lose daylight

Practices will be held at Ann Arbor's Southeast Area Park, 1351 E Ellsworth Road Ann Arbor, MI 48108-4810




Game Schedule

Games are typically held on Saturday's with the same time schedule but may vary so please pay close attention to the schedule.

All football players are expected to arrive 1 hour 30 minutes in advance.

Usual game start times:

Freshman games at 11 am

Junior Varsity games at 1 pm

Varsity games at 3 pm

We will play 8 games each season.

The weekend following the last regular season game will be playoff games for the top 4 teams of each division.

The playoff winners will then participate in the championship game the following weekend.
